Seeking red for charity cash

by Mark Rowe

Staff at the Walsall offices of Allegion (UK) Ltd recently saw red to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The security product company took part in the annual ‘Ramp up the Red’ event by the UK heart charity.

The fund-raising campaign encourages people to wear red clothing or accessories, and donating. At the Allegion offices on Bescot Crescent, staff raided their wardrobes for anything red and red-themed activities also helped to boost the money raised. Red velvet cupcakes were sold on the day and there were red faces around the building with employees spotted paying £1 for a bright red lipstick kiss on their cheeks.

Pat Lyndon, Supply Chain Team Leader , at Allegion said: “It was a very bright day in the office as most people donned red clothes, red wigs, and even red lipstick! The British Heart Foundation’s Ramp up the Red event gave us an excellent opportunity to have a lot of fun and to raise funds for a very worthy cause. We were very pleased to collect almost £300 on the day and I would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and their generosity.”
