AABC Award

by msecadm4921

The Kettering Borough Crime Initiative (KBCI), a crime reduction partnership between Businesses, Kettering Borough Council including CCTV and police, has received the Safer Business Award.

The award was presented by Michael Schuck, the Chief Executive of Action Against Business Crime, at a ceremony held in the Committee Room at Kettering Borough Council in September.

The initiative first received the British Retail Consortium Safer Shopping Award in April 2003. The Safer Shopping Award has now been replaced by a new broader based Safer Business Award which is awarded by Action Against Business Crime, the new national partnership organisation supported by the Home Office.

About Kettering

The Kettering Borough Crime Initiative has now received the Safer Business Award for demonstrating high operating standards and good partnership working. The overall number of crimes against businesses in Kettering Borough has fallen. Police figures show business crime dropped by over 5pc during the period April 2005 to March 2006 when compared to the previous period. Some 10 prolific offenders are excluded from member premises. Now having 100 members, the KBCI aims to deter and prevent known offenders from committing crime.
