A Herefordshire caravan dealership sought to secure its œ1m of stock with an upgrade its existing coax-based CCTV system. Installed by IS Systems, Dinmore Caravans Ltd?s replacement CCTV system uses NVT?s unshielded twisted pair (UTP) video transmission technology. The video transmission solution is via NVT miniature active UTP video transmitters and receivers, and a single multi-pair CAT 5 cable. The site?s previous coax based transmission system suffered problems of poor quality pictures and hum bars. Protecting more than 80 new caravans with a retail cost of up to œ15,000 each, the new system relays real-time CCTV camera images to an off-site monitoring location 200 metres away. Linked to Pulnix beams and a radio paging device, Philips colour/mono switching camera domes protect the sites caravan sales pitch, accessory shop, car park, workshop and access gates. Commenting on use of NVT?s video transmission technology, Bill Johnston, IS Systems? MD said: ?We decided to try the UTP solution to eradicate the picture quality problems inherent in the previous coax based system. By using NVT?s equipment, we have achieved great results, at lower cost. We will definitely use their equipment again.? Dinmore report that they are preventing theft, as word has got around about the CCTV system.
