Cargo Seal

by msecadm4921

In response to the need for more security on intermodal logistics shipments across Europe, security seals company TydenBrooks Security Products Group now offers a dual solution for sealing shipping containers and trucks.

Meeting ISO 17712 and the North American C-TPAT security standards, the Alum-a-Loc is a cargo security cable seal made of corrosion resistant aluminium. The makers say it requires professional strength cable cutters for removal. The cable is three-sixteenths of an inch, 4.8mm, diameter and is non-preformed, which means it springs open on cutting. This feature prevents the cable from being cut and reinserted in the body of the seal.

It is suitable the makers say for use on the back of trucks or shipping containers as its length as required, but typically between 1200mm and 1800mm, enables it to be wound through the upright locking bars, linking them together with a serialised lock body which can be bar coded and/or colour coded. For extra security this can be combined with one of the range HS bolt security seals. Both seals are aimed at preventing the doors from being opened, and show tamper evidence. If sold as a package to customers, they can be marked with the same sequential number for checking and identification, and supplied as a packed kit.

Nic Dancey, Director of Sales & Marketing EMEA, says: “The use of a tracking and identification system like this provides customers in shipping and intermodal logistics with a reliable and scalable tracking and security service which can help to reduce costs, minimise delays and improve efficiencies. This is particularly important in today’s marketplace where growing volumes of freight and an increasing emphasis on security can strain the efficiency of freight transportation, particularly at gateways and along major transportation corridors.”
