Cemetery CCTV

by msecadm4921

In Leicester, Gilroes Cemetery is to have £45k CCTV installed.

Three new digital cameras will be installed and linked to the council’s CCTV monitoring system based at Blackbird Road. This is in addition to the existing cameras.

Cllr Andy Connelly, cabinet lead for culture said: “This is an important investment to ensure that employees and visitors to the cemetery feel safe.

“Over the last few years we have seen an increase in complaints about anti-social behaviour and thefts from graves in what should be a peaceful place. We wanted to tackle this issue as a priority as part of our commitment to safer communities.

“The new cameras will allow us to gather clearer pictures, which are useful evidence in any legal action”. The cameras are due to be installed in the autumn.
