The past two years have seen a marked change in the attitude of builders and developers towards secure access, according to Andrew Slater, Director of TelGuard. The company has noted that security is no longer, as was often the case, a secondary consideration or even an afterthought, but a prime item in the new housing and property development field. He adds: ?Until quite recently, works could be 90 per cent complete before the question of secure access was considered in entry doors and gates, often meaning damage to these completed works. However such security requirements are now not seen as add-ons but as an integral part of such new developments.? This is a welcome move for this security industry sector, say TelGuard, who until quite recently would be called in when, for example, block paving had already been completed without provision for access cable ducting. Developers are now more likely, the firm says, to decide on what type of security system to have, rather than whether to have one at all.
