West Yorkshire based manufacturers Mercer CCTV’s charity of choice is the Laura Crane Trust.
At this year’s IFSEC, the firm is donating to the charity, the monies that would normally have been allocated to promotional activities. The Trust, based in Huddersfield, seeks to fight cancer in young people, an age group often under supported in the UK. It also supports patients during their frequent spells in hospital.
"We were so inspired by The Laura Crane Trust and their forward thinking attitude," says John Turner, Sales Director of Mercer CCTV. "Having teenagers at home myself, I was compelled to do what I could to help."
A recent campaign for the Trust is their ‘Chatworld’ project. This is a virtual world, hosted online that enables their young cancer patients to create a character and interact with other users in a variety of settings.
Pam Thornes, Fundraising Manager at the Trust says: "The project will cost £60,000 and we are roughly half way. Since many of our patients speak of isolation and loneliness, this project seeks to alleviate that by bringing young people together from all over the country. We are grateful for any support that can help us achieve this goal."
Mercer products include the Vehicle Mounted Dome which will be displayed at IFSEC and the ‘Quickswitch’ Technology, which enables installers to alter a camera network.
