Crimestoppers Accolade

by msecadm4921

In recognition of a dramatic improvement in the number of Crimestoppers calls they received between 2008 and 2009 and the subsequent number of arrests resulting from these calls, Lincolnshire Police have been presented with an award.

In this period, Crimestoppers calls to the force rose by 31pc, and the number of resulting arrests went up by 55pc.

At a ceremony at the Holiday Inn, Brayford Wharf in Lincoln on Thursday 11th March, Lincolnshire’s Assistant Chief Constable Keith Smy presented awards to a number of regional recipients. He presented a "Certificate of Excellence" on behalf of the Police Regional Crimestoppers Consortium to Lincolnshire Police, which was accepted by Detective Sergeant Andy Beaver and Sheri Larder from the Force Intelligence Bureau and Sarah-Jane Freeman, Crime Reduction Manager.

He said, "I’m delighted to by presenting this award which is testimony to Lincolnshire Police’s work with the Crimestoppers charity". "We place enormous value on our relationship with them and these results show how important community intelligence and co-operation is in helping us to bring criminals to justice. We understand that they are many reasons why some people may not wish to speak directly to the police and Crimestoppers affords us a way in which we can still gain the vital information which these people can provide."

Lincolnshire is part of the Regional Crimestoppers Consortium of police forces, with Yorkshire, Humberside, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Statistically, the Consortium is the most successful of its kind in the country.

Gary Howarth, Regional Co-ordinator for Crimestoppers says: "Lincolnshire’s improvement is undoubtedly due to their positive attitude towards Crimestoppers and their willingness to engage with us to maximise the effectiveness of our working relationship". "We have established some excellent links with the people and departments in the force responsible for intelligence, and through this we have worked towards getting the best results from Crimestoppers information."
