Regency Security recently became one of the first door supervisor companies in the UK to be awarded extra, police-style powers under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS).
Chief Inspector Nick Lee and Essex Police CSAS Officer Jenny Ayres presented the certificate to Managing Director Gary Powers at Regency’s head offices in Braintree, Essex.<br> <br>Accredited bodies – typically council or housing association guard forces, or contract firms – must meet standards set by a police force; and individuals must satisfy police vetting and training. Regency’s accredited security team will act as the eyes and ears of local police: from litter dropping through to anti-social behaviour, they will be empowered to deal with specific nuisances. Each staff member will display the CSAS badge on their black and silver Regency uniform. This will feature the scheme logo and Essex Police crest to signify their role as extended police family. Door supervisors will carry an identification card stating their name and confirming what powers they have been granted by Essex Police.<br><br>Regency MD Gary Powers said: “Since 1993 we have worked with commercial and retail businesses throughout the South East to protect the safety of their employees, patrons and premises. We are delighted to be involved with this scheme right from the start because we believe it will make a real difference to people’s security and wellbeing. Our staff are highly skilled and extremely well trained, and this new accreditation means we can do even more to protect people.” <br><br>A factor in the decision to increase Regency’s status was the company’s work with local law enforcement agencies. Business Director Paul DeAngelis said: “We already work closely with Chief Constable Lee and local authorities to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, particularly in the night-time economy, and this scheme was therefore a natural progression for us. Our guards and supervisors understand the needs of the communities they serve, which places us in an ideal position to keep them safe.”
This is separate from Regency’s Approved Contractors Scheme (ACS) accreditation from the regulators SIA (Security Industry Authority).
