Data Protection Suite

by msecadm4921

SectorGuard plc, the security solutions provider, has had a new Data Protection Suite officially opened by Baroness Ruth Henig, Chairman of the Security Industry Authority, at its Waltham Cross head office.

According to the Hertfordshire-based firm, the new facility will allow more effective monitoring, and forensic analysis, of CCTV data in a facility devoted entirely to the increasingly complex requirements of the Data Protection Act (DPA).

The move follows SectorGuard’s acquisition of Euro Security Systems in June 2007. Euro had been one of the largest providers of a CCTV DPA Service offered as an added value aspect of its services to all its CCTV clients. With Euro Security Systems’ expertise now on board, SectorGuard reports it has taken the service a step forward and opened the dedicated suite for the analysis of image data as part of the service that they provide to blue chip clients such as ExxonMobil.

SectorGuard is appointed as Data Co-ordinator on behalf of clients to meet Purpose Four of the Data Protection Act 1998, dealing with all relevant Data Subject access requests as well as providing products to ensure compliance with the capture of images. Although technology is synonymous with the digital age, there is still a need for analogue systems, SectorGuard adds; and it ensures that high end commercial tapes, sequentially numbered, are available and used and later disposed of in line with the recommendations of the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Service delivery

David Marks, CEO of SectorGuard said: “We want to ensure that when we install CCTV on behalf of clients they are aware of the law pertaining to CCTV and the implications of the Data Protection Act 1998. SectorGuard is a convergence business brining in a wide range of skills in the sector. We are able to offer the client an all round service from the installation of CCTV to an officer surveying the images. With our Data Subject access procedures we are at the forefront of this type of service delivery.”
