DVR In One

by msecadm4921

Baxall has launched the MDR Digital System which integrates a coaxial telemetry matrix, an embedded digital video recorder and multiplexer in one unit, the makers say.

On the matrix side, the MDR enables up to 16 cameras to be switched to any of five monitors. The multiplexer element features Triplex functionality, to allow users to watch live and recorded images on one split screen monitor while continuing to record both images and audio, where required, the firm says.

These images are archived in the MDR’s Hard Disk Drives, which feature 1TB storage capacity, enabling the user to store large quantities of data. Finding specific events in amongst that data is through the use of motion search over a specific time period. The Disk Analysis Screen can be used for simple analysis of recorded data: colour coded bars indicate per-camera information of events, alarms, activities and video loss, plus the option to zoom into selected areas. A synchronised alarm system provides the further benefit of routing an alarmed camera to designated spot monitors. The built-in jog / shuttle control facility enables variable speed forward, reverse, play and frame by frame searches. Once operators have experienced the jog / shuttle control, they rarely go back to ‘x2x4’x8’ buttons again, claims Baxall. The MDR comes Ethernet ready, to provide remote access to live and recorded images. Through the use of WaveReader software (included with a unit), the MDR allows users to select and post images or clips to the network, store, print and email images, as well as archive video clips; this same software also allows for different levels of security access. The Wavelet video compression technology used in the MDR makes it possible to archive compact files with high image resolution. A secret watermark ensures the integrity of each recording.

For larger, multi-site applications, up to 16 MDR units can be connected to give the user access to up to 256 cameras. These cameras can be arranged and displayed in any combination on user definable screens, up to a maximum of 64 cameras at any one time.
