GE Security’s CTX 9800 DSi product achieves US Transportation Security Administration explosives detection system certification.

According to the US product firm, the CTX 9800 breaks new ground with its data acquisition system called Clarity — bringing together for the first time GE Healthcare’s 3D imaging technology and GE Security’s automated explosives detection technology. Clarity’s HD3-D imaging delivers a 360 degree view of baggage contents. The CTX 9800 also provides users the ability to it is claimed adapt to new threat definitions.

"The CTX 9800 utilizes advanced imaging technology originally developed for healthcare applications and customizes it for security applications," said Dennis Cooke of GE Security’s Homeland Protection business. "Our unique Clarity technology enables checked luggage to be scanned by an EDS system at unprecedented speeds with the highest resolution in the industry. The CTX 9800 delivers 3D volumetric images with exceptional detail that can lead to more effective identification of potential threats and increased operator efficiency."

Both the CTX 9000 and CTX 9400 DSiTM can be upgraded to the CTX 9800.
