To help installers comply with British Standards, Gardiner Security has developed firestu.com – a 24v PSU with a redcareBT ready fire stu.
The distributor says it brings the following benefits as they serve the needs of customers and fire brigades: recurring revenue from maintained Fire Alarm Detection Systems (FADS); recurring revenue from continuously monitored FADS; and fewer false alarms.
About the product
firestu.com has been developed in response to BS 5839-1-2002, Section 2, where "the early summoning of the fire service is considered critical to the safety of occupants…". BS 5839 recommends systems connected to alarm receiving centres should be wired in fire resistant cable, be continuously monitored and be provided with the same battery standby time as the fire system.
What they say
Gardiner Security’s Fire Product Manager Peter Holmes says: “In addition there is a drive from insurance companies for more monitored systems, plus proposals from the fire brigade, under the CAFCOA policy, are asking for reduction of false alarms. These market demands have created an opportunity for installers to install more stu’s and therefore derive more residual and recurring revenue from their new and existing clients.” Installers who want to find out more about firestu.com should contact Gardiner Security’s Fire Division on 01706 510515, e-mail [email protected], or speak to their local branch or representative.
