Wilson James picked up the award for Best Guarding Company at the 2002 Security Excellence Awards.
The panel of judges deciding the awards recognised that as a company Wilson James challenges many of the conventional wisdoms associated with manned security provision. Key elements of the Wilson James approach that particularly impressed the judges included a standard 42-hour shift pattern across the company; strictly monitored overtime, controlled in line with the Working Time Directive; the development of a bespoke Front-of-House service that incorporates security, reception, Help Desk and switchboard services; and a genuine desire to add value to clients? businesses.
What they say
The panel described Wilson James as “one of the few companies truly addressing the 48-hour working week, line management training and education and the work-life balance for security officers”. In collecting this award, Stuart Lowden, Director of Wilson James? Corporate Division, praised the hard work and dedication of the company?s site-based teams and support staff. ??This award is a public recognition of the exceptional service our people are providing to our clients. All the pretty words come to nothing if we can?t deliver what we promise, so it is our site teams that are the real winners of this award.?? The company was short-listed in two further categories; best security partnering initiative; and best security manager ? Mark Edis, Contract manager, Capital One. Mark was a founder member of the WIlson James team at Capital One, Nottingham. Category winners were Baxall and IndigoVision (Security Partnership) and Stephen Daniels, of Wembley (London) Limited (Security Manager), featured in the September 2002 print edition of Professional Security.
