A fitness chain in South Africa is using vari-focal lenses from Rainbow CCTV at its gymnasium and leisure complexes.
The lenses employed are the 3-8mm and 5-50mm models which are being used with internal cameras, mainly high-resolution colour units. The installer is Johannesburg-based Spidereye who are exploiting audio channels on their own brand of DVRs to offer the client sound recording.
About the installer
Spidereye is a consultancy and integrator covering high-end industrial, leisure and infrastructure projects. Johan Uys of Spidereye said: “The Rainbow offering is extremely competitive and the lenses give me the kind of functionality I need in wide-ranging internal and external applications.”
Planet Fitness employs 800 staff and has 135,000 members in health centres across South Africa including Cape Town and Centurion. The company’s flagship premises are at the Wanderers sports arena in Johannesburg.
About the lenses
Rainbow’s 3-8mm varifocal lenses correct the focus shift that occurs when using IR lighting and are suitable for IR and non-IR applications, the makers report. These CS-mount lenses are compatible with 1/3 and 1/4” cameras. Zoom and focus are adjusted manually and include locking screws. The lens is available in manual or auto-iris. The lenses feature all-glass optics. They are colour corrected and compatible with all leading camera brands. All Rainbow lenses are covered by a four-year warranty, the makers add.
