HRH Prince Philip toured CCTV manufacturer Dedicated Micros’ factory in Malta where products such as the DV-IP and Digital Sprite 2 are made.
The Duke’s visit to DM on November 25 coincided with HM Queen Elizabeth attending a Commonwealth heads of government meeting (CHOGM).
During his tour of the factory on Malta’s San Gwann Industrial Estate, HRH Duke of Edinburgh was able to see the advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) section where automatic pick and place machines are installed. He was also briefed by Dedicated Micros (Malta) Directors Noel Micallef and Stephen Muscat on the processes involved in manufacture, stringent testing procedures and given a demonstration of typical products in action.
Said Noel Micallef, Director of Operations, Dedicated Micros (Malta): "We were delighted that HRH Duke of Edinburgh was able to tour our production facility and see at first hand what is involved in creating our CCTV systems. The high profile visit also reflects our impressive export success which saw Dedicated Micros win the International Trade section of the Queen’s Award for Industry in 2003."
DM reports it has expansion plans for Malta and is in the process of developing a new site at Bulebel which will effectively double the company’s manufacturing capacity to meet market demands, the firm says.
