IFSEC Shortlist

by msecadm4921

Network CCTV product manufacturer Axis Communications has been short listed at the IFSEC 2005 Security Industry Innovation Awards in the ‘most innovative UK security project or installation’ category.

The installation at Stafford General Hospital by Axis’ partner Plexnet was used as the basis for this award submission; featured in Professional Security last year.

Stafford General Hospital used a solution combining Axis video servers and network cameras, to help extend and transfer an existing analogue CCTV system onto the hospital’s network. Because the hospital is campus in style, the solution was able to utilise existing wireless networks between buildings, creating installation savings of more than £40,000 (based on the estimated cost of providing and laying additional coaxial cabling if the CCTV system had remained analogue-only), the firms report.

What they say

Dominic Bruning, managing director, Axis Communications UK Limited, said: “We are delighted to have been short listed for this award.  The installation at this site is a good example of what can be achieved in terms of savings by employing IP-Surveillance technology across existing network infrastructure.”
