The Security Institute has appointed a General Manager, to run its office and co-ordinate new initiatives.
Di Thomas takes the post officially on November 1.
TSI chairman, Bill Wyllie, says: "This is a hugely exciting time for the institute – a time of expansion and movement in new directions. Di’s appointment will bring a new dynamism and focus to our work, and will give us a very capable manager dedicated to expanding our membership and influence, as well as enhancing the services that we provide to members.”
As Professional Security reported in its April print issue, Bill Wyllie, former Chief Security Advisor to the Bank of England, is looking to double TSI membership.
Di says: "I am looking forward to the challenge of working with the team as the Security Institute expands and develops over the coming years. They have a firm footing and respect in the security world, which I intend to build on in raising awareness and supporting the Institute as membership continues to grow."
Di worked at Thales (previously Racal) in admin, soft services Facilities Management and Site Security Controller roles, before joining Faceo FM UK in 2001. In Faceo she managed the National Call Centre, liaising with clients and colleagues in Europe, and has designed and implemented the UK-wide Quality Management System, developing processes and procedures for service delivery across a range of FM services. She was latterly responsible for client communications, branding and customer satisfaction processes. As Business Manager of the Defence Industry Security Association, she has restructured the finance, administration and communication functions of the organisation, and guided them through a rebranding process while managing administration, finance and communications.
