Jacqui Smith Speaks

The Home Secretary recently spent over an hour answering questions online.

Topics included anti-social behaviour, neighbourhood policing and the new Border Agency. A recurring theme was a complaint that changing community support officers meant that police onthe ground were not actually able to build up trust, or rather once they did the officer moved on. Jacqui Smith took the point, replying that neighbourhood policing needed to be embedded.
