Kuwait Deal

by msecadm4921

The UK and Kuwait are to work together on international security after an agreement was signed today. Security Minister Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gulf state guaranteeing close work between the two countries.

As well as sharing expertise on international security and counter terrorism, the deal will mean close co-operation in a range of areas, including human trafficking, drug smuggling and cyber crime.

Britain will now work with Kuwait to advise the country on improving and developing its security systems. As well as building stronger relations between the two nations, the MoU will open up new opportunities for UK firms in Kuwait.

Baroness Neville-Jones said:

"I am pleased to sign this Memorandum of Understanding, which further strengthens the close relations the UK enjoys with Kuwait.

"The MoU will ensure close co-operation between the two countries in vitally important areas such as counter terrorism and international organised crime.

"Britain is eager to share skills and technological expertise with her friends in the Gulf and I look forward to a close partnership in a common endeavour with the Government of Kuwait."

The UK and Kuwait already enjoy a close working relationship but today’s agreement sets it on a formal and enhanced footing for the future.

The Kuwaiti Minister for the Interior, General Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah, signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the Home Office today.
