The 16th annual Manchester security event, hosted by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on behalf of Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, has a new venue in the city.

It’s titled ‘Security – Whatever the Cuts’ and will run on Wednesday, April 13, at The Bridgewater Hall, Lower Mosley Street. Securitas are the sponsors.

GMP Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan will open the conference and introduce speakers including: Tony Porter, Head of the North West Counter Terrorist Unit and Geoff Zeidler, Managing Director of Securitas Security Services UK and Ireland.

Stuart Pizzey MBE commissioned the event during his time with Greater Manchester Police and organised it through to his retirement. As a crime prevention panel member he continues to play an active role which is also supported by the work he does on behalf of his employer Reliance Security (now part of Securitas) in the capacity of Police Business Liaison Manager.

Stuart said: “I am delighted that this event continues. It is a fantastic platform for all Manchester businesses to receive sound security advice and information on the latest security solutions to protect their premises, staff and customers. Now, more than ever it is clear that the security industry has a major part to play in helping not only the local business community but also the police service, as cuts imposed in all areas including police service begin to take effect.” For a place at the event ring Christine Brooks, BSIA on 0845 389 0743 or email [email protected].
