OCS On Target

by msecadm4921

Contract guarding firm OCS reported in November it passed the Security Industry Authority (SIA) license application target for September and October 2005

The firm added that it was well on its way to becoming one of the first SIA approved contractors.

Describing itself as one of only 15 companies in England and Wales to have reached the 55pc target for guard license applications submitted by the end of October, as seat out in SIA documents for gaining the approved contractor scheme status, OCS says it has responded quickly and effectively to the changes in legislation following the introduction of the Private Security Industry Act of 2001. OCS adds that it has ensured that all its security guards have obtained, or are in the process of obtaining, their SIA licenses.

What they say

OCS chief executive, Chris Cracknell, said: "The security industry consists of well over 2,500 security firms, so to have been only one of 15 to reach the high standards and stringent requirements of the SIA is testament to the professionalism and expertise of our security team at OCS. The Private Security Industry Act 2001 was introduced to regulate and license the security industry. I welcome the regulations, which will be instrumental in creating an even more professional and respected security industry for the future."

About the firm

OCS Resolution Security provides a range of services from security systems and manned guarding to VIP protection and bug sweeps. It’s one arm of a firm that offers cleaning, catering and other services.
