Market researchers Plimsoll have published a Pricing Guide to security industry firms.
The top ten UK security companies by value are Chubb; ADT; Chloride Group; Initial Electronic Ssecurity Systems; Orbis; Emess; Reliance Security; Relyon; Norbain and Sensormatic. So says a Pricing Guide from market researchers Plimsoll. Four of the ten suffered a decline in their value last year, the researchers point out, yet remained in the ten. Biggest improvement came from Reliance Security Group, that saw a 25 per cent improvement in value. Company valuations saw considerable variation; of the 1,000 firms surveyed, 42 per cent saw their value decline and 58 per cent saw their value increase. Companies with sales in the œ10m to œ20m bracket seem to have been hit the hardest the past year in value terms. Their value fell on average by 12 per cent. Larger companies seem to have improved the most. The value of the company has almost nothing to do with its size. Orbis with sales of œ56m made it into the top 10, whereas Frederick Cooper with sales of œ44m was valued at number 14. Of the 270 companies where their value increased over last year, the increase was massive – adding on average 42 per cent to their value.
