Reliance In PFI

A consortium of Reliance Secure Task Management (RSTM) Limited, HBOS plc and Equion has been selected preferred bidder, by Cleveland Police, for a 25-year Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract for custody suites.

Reliance will do facilities management including security; property handling and management of a central property store; storage of interview audio and video tapes; and handling of stray dogs.
 
Titled ‘Action Stations’ the PFI project will require: construction of a 50-cell custody suite, a Divisional Headquarters and Central Property Store in Middlesbrough; refurbishment of existing front desk facility and custody suite within the Hartlepool Divisional Headquarters building; construction of a new custody suite and Divisional Headquarters in Langbaurgh; and construction of town centre police stations at Redcar and South Bank. Existing RSTM PFIs include a 30-year contract with Sussex Police Authority – awarded in October 2002; combining, design, build, custody services and a facilities management; also, a 30 year contract with Gloucestershire Constabulary for the financing, design, build and operation of a new Constabulary Headquarters; selected in July 2003 and commenced in April 2004.
 
Construction of the facilities will be undertaken by Laing Rourke Northern. In the partnership Reliance will provide a wide range of facilities management services at all sites. Tom Riall, Managing Director of Reliance Secure Task Management said: "We are delighted to have been selected as Preferred Bidder for this important project, which further emphasises our specialist expertise and capabilities in the provision of business process outsourcing services within the criminal justice sector. Our approach, which focuses on productive partnerships and long-term development, will facilitate high levels of service and enable us to enjoy an excellent continuing relationship with Cleveland Police Authority.”
