A 14 year old girl has been sentenced for her part in August’s disorder in Bromley, after being identified after CCTV images appeared in the local papers.
The 14 year old girl from Orpington was given a six month referral order to the Bromley Youth Offender Panel at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court on 15 December 2011, after pleading guilty to burglary at Uniqlo’s on August 8.
The girl was arrested at her home address on 26 September, after being identified when her picture – taken from CCTV during the disorder in Bromley – was featured in Bromley’s local papers. She was seen entering the Uniqlo Clothing Store in The Mall, Bromley during the disorder.
Borough Commander Charles Griggs said: "Convictions like these demonstrate the value of CCTV and our partnership with the Council and our local papers. They have been instrumental in enabling us to identify and arrest suspects in respect of the disorder.
"We are determined to bring everyone who committed these mindless acts of criminality to justice, and I can promise you more arrests will follow over the coming months. The sentences imposed send a clear message that society will not tolerate this behaviour and they will not get away with it."
