Safe As Houses

by msecadm4921

A new housing development for older people – The William Sutton Housing site at Tranter Road, Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent – was awarded a Secure by Design Certificate.

Inspector Steve Jones, commander of the Bucknall Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU), will present the award to William Sutton representative, Margaret Walker.

The award is given when a development is built to a standard set by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). Certain doors, bolts, locks and windows are used in a bid to improve security.

PC Neil Whitmore, crime reduction officer for Stoke-on-Trent Division, has carried out a check of the site to ensure all the specifications are met.

“People who are living here can rest assured their homes have been built to a Secure by Design specification which is set by ACPO,” said PC Whitmore.
