The 2011 series of Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG) Masterclasses begins with an examination of ‘The Insider Threat’ on January 20. Led by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), the event is hosted by Unilever in London.
Designed as a day of learning and information sharing for security people, the Masterclass agenda examines the ‘Insider Threat’. Running from 10am to 3.30pm, topics include the types of insider activities and why they are carried out; an overview of national security vetting and how to reduce vulnerability to the insider threat.
Martin Smith is Chairman and Founder of SASIG and says: "We are very lucky to have the combined expertise and experience of security professionals who are peerless in terms of their specialist knowledge. For any professional in the security arena, this represents a matchless opportunity to learn and benefit from colleagues who are at the sharp end of insider threat prevention. The format of the day encourages an unhindered exchange of ideas, experience and information designed for adoption and adaptation to suit each individual company."
Among the speakers sharing their security experience will be Peter Bassill, Group Information Security Officer for Gala Coral one of Europe’s largest betting and gaming companies, who will be presenting a case study on ‘Preventing the Threat of an Insider Attack’.
Places for the Masterclass are strictly limited and can be secured by a minimum donation of £75 to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, the nominated charity of SASIG. In the event of over-subscription, places will be allocated by ballot. For further information contact [email protected] or telephone 01234 708456.
