Seal Deal

by msecadm4921

A frozen food company’s entire fleet of vehicles has new door seals for safeguarding goods in transit….

Iceland Frozen Foods Ltd has purchased the security seals, developed in the UK by SecureSeal Systems Ltd, part of the OEM Group, to replace the current disposable seals on around 430 trailers. A total order of 455 seals will eventually be fitted and also specified on all new-build trailers and rigid vehicles.

SecureSeal Data trailer seals are described as a permanent, reusable seal with a unique random security number generator that indicates unauthorised door openings and can work either as a stand-alone unit or connected to a standard vehicle monitoring system (VMS).

Besides the cost savings and tamper-evident security features, it was the environmental credentials and adaptability of the SecureSeal that clinched the deal according to the frozen food company. Iceland’s Planning and Contracts Manager, Dave Rowlands, said: "Iceland takes its policy on environmental responsibility and sustainability very seriously. SecureSeal offers a reliable cost effective reusable seal that will maintain the security of our goods in transit, whilst eliminating the use of thousands of disposable seals. This advanced version of the original SecureSeal also allows us to future-proof the security of our fleet as it can be linked to our fleet telematics system to provide a record of unauthorised seal openings."

The SecureSeal Data trailer seal is a version of their flagship product, SecureSeal , developed as part of a new generation of security and automated monitoring devices, and winner of a Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) Innovation Award. SecureSeal Systems Ltd. has also received the Enfield Innovator’s Award for 2010 for a security solution for intermodal shipping, and was a finalist in the RFID Breakthrough Awards.

OEM Group’s managing director, Cameron Grant, said: "There are now in excess of 50,000 vehicles fitted with SecureSeal. The product is fitted on the trailers of the world’s leading supermarkets and retailers worldwide. The decision by another world-renowned food retailer to secure its fleet of vehicles with SecureSeal recognises OEM Group’s commitment to making the transportation of goods on the highways safer through continued product development in the field of logistics security."
