Seminar For Police

More than 100 police officers attended a crime reduction seminar hosted by SmartWater Technology.

Police forces from across the country were represented at the event which was hosted by the security product firm. The hosts reported that the event was an opportunity for UK police forces to share their approaches to crime reduction. Attendees also included representatives from the Turkish Police Service who had heard of SmartWater successes in reducing crimes such as burglary, robbery and car crime.

The SmartWater Police User Group Seminar, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham, featured presentations by guest speakers on a range of crime prevention methods and strategies. The event also saw the unveiling of the firm’s Strategy Operations Manual; designed to assist police forces with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the SmartWater Strategy – a crime reduction strategy involving the distribution of forensic property coding systems to vulnerable residential areas, or the deployment of covert intruder spray systems to combat business crime, race attacks, or vehicle thefts.

Prof Gloria Laycock, Director of the Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science discussed the ability of a sustained publicity campaign to support crime prevention initiatives. A paper on the development of an integrated crime reduction strategy followed, presented by Cheshire Deputy Chief Constable Graeme Gerrard and chair of the Association of Chief Police Officers’ Burglary Reduction Committee.
