Shopping CCTV

by msecadm4921

Chesterfield Borough Council has agreed to invest within the next 12 months in CCTV at Brimington, Littlemoor, Walton Drive (Bullring) and Loundsley Green, four neighbourhood shopping areas.

The decision depends in each case on the local Community Forum agreeing to provide some of the funding. The council says the aim is to reduce incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour in areas which police records indicate are particular trouble spots within local shopping centres. Cameras are already at The Green, Hasland, and at Brimington where redeployable cameras have been positioned for a trial period.

What they say

A council spokesman said: “The trial period of CCTV monitoring in Brimington utilising redeployable cameras has proved that CCTV is very effective in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour."
