Signal Transmission

by msecadm4921

BPT Security Systems of Hemel Hemstead, Herts has developed X2.

Signals include telephone, audio, video (in black and white or colour) and controls (door-lock release, stair light, auxiliary service, call-timer, self-connection to entry panel and sequential switching between entry panels), all of which can be transferred without any loss of quality. The ready wired twisted pair can be used to create an intercom system with up to ten user extensions, the makers say. Standard issue with the system is secrecy of speech and privacy of the video signal, which means that conversations in progress from a different extension cannot be intercepted. The X2 system also manages up to 64 users and allows for up to four entrances to be connected in series. The automatic switching of the monitor means all entrances can be sequenced and the door-lock release and auxiliary services controls only affect the entrance selected at that time, assuring unbeatable security.

Installers will find that fitting a non-polarized twisted pair is much easier than traditional wiring systems, the makers say, especially when running cable through already congested ducts. Immediate financial returns will be realised, as problematic installations where it is difficult to estimate an installation time are diminished due to simplicity of installation. The final configuration of the installation is particularly straightforward and convenient thanks to the coding and self-learning procedure which does not require you to set any jumper or dip-switches. BPT states that X2 technology has been developed with tomorrow in mind. The wide band signals that can be transmitted on the twisted pair means that future technological service developments can be achieved without problem. This will satisfy customers who will be able to update their existing systems easily, without disruption, according to the manufacturers.
