by msecadm4921

A Sussex boy who threw a stone at a firefighter’s head went to work at his local fire station to say sorry….

The 12-year-old Hastings boy admitted throwing the stone at the fireman who was at a Quality Street community event in Mount Pleasant Court, Hastings. He had been packing away football equipment when he something hard hit him on the head.

A group of youths had been seen nearby and police enquiries led them to the 12-year-old who admitted he had thrown the stone but had not intended to hit the man.

The victim agreed to resolve the offence by community resolution as he did not want to see the boy prosecuted. The offender agreed and apologised to the fireman and spent two hours at Hastings fire station doing some work including sweeping up leaves in the yard.

PC Vicky Sykes said: "The victim was happy with the boy’s efforts and has even arranged for him to return to the fire station to do some fun activities if he behaves and keeps out of trouble."
