Passengers using trams at Croydon station in south-east London are invited to the Safer Croydon Travel Open Day. It’s a new initiative in partnership with the British Transport Police (BTP), the Metropolitan Police, Southern Rail, Croydon Council, Transport for London and Tramlink.
This also sees the launch of a new British Transport Police Neighbourhood Policing team, formed to deal with crime on Croydon’s tram system.
BTP’s Croydon Tram Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), have enhanced our current policing of the Tram and are based at Knolly’s House, near to East Croydon Tram stop.
The official opening ceremony was on Wednesday, 4 August between 10 am to 4 pm at the Croydon visitors centre and at East Croydon Tram stop from 2 pm.
Inspector Jack Ioannou, based at Croydon BTP station on Addiscombe Road, said: "The new team represent an enhancement to our policing in Croydon, and will be aiming to drive down crime, arrest more offenders and ensure Tramlink passengers are not only safe, but more importantly feel safe.
“Working in close partnership with the Croydon BID, TfL, Croydon Tramlink and local Metropolitan Police Safer Transport Officers.
“We are keen for the local community to contact us to discuss any issues or concerns they have.”
