Vicon At IFSEC

by msecadm4921

Visitors to stand E60 in Hall 5 will see a demonstration of Vicon’s video management, recording and control technology. Among the new products and technologies on display are:

Virtual Matrix – Vicon’s new Virtual Matrix Display Controller (VMDC) takes control room management and display of IP camera streams to new levels. The VMDC allows a networked IP-based CCTV system to be viewed and managed in exactly the same way, and with the same ease, as has always been the case with analogue matrix systems. Fully scalable, with easy to use drag-and-drop functionality, HD and megapixel camera support and allowing instantaneous access to recorded footage displayed adjacent to live video, Vicon’s VMDC sets the standard for management, recording and display of IP video streams.

Megapixel Cameras – Vicon’s new 2.0 Megapixel day/night camera range support H.264 compression technology as well as offering MPEG-4 and M-JPEG compatibility. Users can receive multiple streams simultaneously in different resolutions, frame rates and image qualities for viewing on different platforms.

The MP980 series of megapixel cameras are available as indoor dome, outdoor dome and box cameras. On the outdoor version a removable IR-cut filter and auto iris control allows the cameras to deliver clear images 24 hours a day at lighting levels as low a 0.03 Lux at 20 IRE. Power over Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need for power cables and makes installation easy and cost-effective. The cameras offer seamless integration with the ViconNet video management system and conform to the ONVIF global standard, making them compatible with other network video products.

Kollector hybrid recorders – The new Kollector Force and Strike recording platforms provide DVR, hybrid and NVR functionality including the ability to view, record and control megapixel cameras with D1 real-time recording across all connected inputs.

All Strike and Force models support H264 compression, which allows for lower bandwidth requirements, greater image quality and lower storage requirements. Now all Kollector models have the ability to view, control and record local and remote IP devices across the network. For true hybrid functionality, each unit allows up to 8 IP cameras to be connected to the recorder in addition to the 16 local analogue video inputs, and these IP cameras can be located anywhere on the network. All 24 cameras may be viewed and recorded simultaneously.

The new Kollector units are all configured to use the latest iSCSI technology, allowing huge benefits in system design and low cost storage solutions.

Vicon’s new Kollector models are also among the first recorders to support megapixel cameras. As well as full integration with the exciting new range of Vicon megapixel cameras, the Kollector force and Strike are designed for complete compatibility with the ViconNet open-platform, meaning that they are able to support third-party IP and megapixel cameras as well.

H.264 PTZ camera dome

Visitors to Vicon’s stand will also be among the first to see the new Surveyor-Mini vandal-proof IP Day/Night PTZ camera dome which is equipped with a 10x optical zoom and H.264 compression to deliver high quality video whilst minimising bandwidth and storage requirements.

Available in either indoor or outdoor models and with a variety of mounting options, the new Vicon Surveyor-Mini camera dome provides flexibility and significant cost savings over previous SurveyorVFT models. The high quality video captured by the Surveyor-Mini unit can be transmitted either by using H.264 compression to minimise the impact on the network and storage or alternatively by using MPEG-4 compression via the powerful ViconNet software platform. There is also the option for analogue transmission with support for multiple control protocols.

Other key features of the Vicon Surveyor-Mini include 10x Optical Zoom featuring Auto Focus, Auto Iris and Zoom Tracking functions, DNR (Digital Noise Reduction). IP66 – All versions of the Surveyor-Mini domes are vandal-resistant to IP66 and are constructed of impact-resistant polycarbonate and secured by tamperproof screws. The standard configuration is clear domes for indoor models and smoked domes for outdoor units. Outdoor units include a blower and thermostatically-controlled heater.

Vertical Market Expertise

The Vicon stand has been designed to allow Vicon to demonstrate its expertise in specific key vertical markets. One section of the stand, for example, will show Vicon’s police custody suite and prison solutions. Here visitors will be able to see Vicon’s enterprise-level recording systems as well as its specialised cell cameras, which incorporate features essential for providing in-cell monitoring, including privacy masking, IR illumination and, of course, a high degree of vandal resistance.
