Watch Re-launch

by msecadm4921

In Essex, police are re-launching Business Watch in the Whitehall Industrial Estate.

It’s to reduce business crime and to help encourage a community spirit among those working in the area.

Business Watch is an initiative through which the police hope to reduce the level of crime in a business area and encourage employers and employees to play an important role in looking after their businesses and others in the area.

Pc Amanda Cook said: “This is an effective scheme which will improve the channels of communication between police and local businesses which will help crimes be prevented and detected. We would like to call upon the help of local businesses to reduce these figures and help make this business community safer.”

Since the beginning of 2008 there have been in the region of 20 commercial burglaries in this area, ten reports of suspicious people on the estate, seven thefts and three thefts of motor vehicles.

Members of the scheme will be asked to be an extra set of eyes and ears in the area and report any suspicious vehicles and people. Police and Colchester Borough Neighbourhood Watch (CBNW) will send out their daily crime sheets and also any other information directed at local businesses.

To register interest in the scheme, call Pc Amanda Cook or Pc Philip Moles on 01206 368578 or email [email protected]
