A trainee engineer who mentors new apprentices and helps train Chubb Security colleagues at his Norwich branch has been named Apprentice of the Year by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA).
Richard Atherton, who is now installing new security systems in the role of a qualified engineer, won the award for his personal and professional support for colleagues new to the Norwich branch. This included help with understanding new business processes and reporting, as well as lending his technical skills to carry out joint visits to clients to service and maintain their security equipment.
Training manager David Millett said: “It is a tremendous achievement for a Chubb Security apprentice to win the award and for Richard individually. It is thoroughly deserved.”
Outside of work, Richard is also a Special Constable, which David Millet believes is further proof of his total commitment and dedication to professionalism, training and helping others: “Richard goes beyond the call of duty to help his colleagues. He is a credit to himself, the company and the industry.”
