Training

Botswana seminar

by Mark Rowe

PerpetuityARC Training, part of the Linx International Group will host an invitation-only seminar on the professionalisation of the security sector and the rewards of training. The presentation will be followed by a questions and answers session, offering security practitioners a chance to gain career guidance. The event on Monday, March 25 opens from 5:30pm, at the Masa Square Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana.

The event is open to all security practitioners who pre-register, with a delegation of PerpetuityARC Training alumni. Attendees will learn about classroom and online training available, from short bite-size courses that support Continuing Professional Development (CPD), through to ASIS International CPP and PSP courses and the prestigious MSc in International Security and Risk Management.

Director of the Linx International Group, Angus Darroch-Warren, pictured, is a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) and a Fellow, and former director, of the Security Institute. He will present the seminar and host the Q&A session. He says: “A commitment to training and development is vital for security practitioners to be respected and rewarded for their professionalism. PerpetuityARC Training has considerable experience of delivering training and consulting services across the African continent.” Angus adds: “The event is also an excellent opportunity for us to learn what new security programmes we can develop specifically to support security practitioners throughout Africa.”

Linx points to its published research in late 2017. A survey of 1000 security practitioners (including many from Africa) suggested Continuing Professional Development, certification and personal development are the main drivers for training. Respondents also stated the importance of training to them as an individual and their employer, as well as the positive impact that recognised training qualifications have on their respective industries.

PerpetuityARC Training’s classroom courses already scheduled for 2019 include:

8th – 12th April: ASIS CPP five day ‘boot camp’, Lagos, Nigeria
8th – 12th April: Managing Security Risks in the Oil and Gas Sector, Lagos
13th – 17th May: Security Coordination and Design, Johannesburg
21st October – 1st November: Strategic Security Management Stage Three, Johannesburg.
