Monitoring centre’s £1m spend

by Mark Rowe

A Midlands based security monitoring and manned security contractor reports it’s invested £1m in new facilities which includes a training centre.

Cougar Monitoring says it had noticed that training within a live environment was not as effective as training within a safe, learning, focussed environment. The company intends to open up the facilities for use by technology partners in the industry.

Cougar will also be offering an introduction to security monitoring as part of any training session in the new facilities.

Daren Hill, Operations Director said: “We are exceptionally proud of our staff here at Cougar Monitoring. The investment in our new innovative site facilities will ensure that our staff get the very best training available, enabling them to carry out their duties as efficiently and smoothly as possible. Their unsurpassed skills will enhance Cougar Monitoring’s position within the industry and we are confident that the firm will see the benefits quickly, which will in turn benefit our clients.”

As part of a major upgrade of company headquarters in Cradley Heath, the technology partners, such as Videcon and RISCO Group UK, can use the facilities to develop the skills of their own customers.

Cougar says it’s also looking to collaborate with household names which have a significant presence in the security monitoring marketplace. Mr Hill added that the primary purpose of the training facility is to help staff develop their technology skills in keeping up to date with fast-paced industry demands.

Established in 1996 and based in the West Midlands, Cougar Monitoring says it provides a ‘one-stop shop’ and, besides ‘traditional’ security and holding SIA Approved Contractor status for guarding, offers CCTV and alarm monitoring capability, key holding, emergency response and mobile patrols.
