Secured Cities 2016

by Mark Rowe

ONVIF, the US-based standards initiative for IP-based physical security products, is taking part in Secured Cities 2016, a conference on urban and municipal security. ONVIF is also a sponsor of the three-day event, from November 15 to 17 in Houston, Texas, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Reliant Park.

As part of a seminar, ONVIF will discuss the rise of integrated โ€˜Secured Citiesโ€™. Integration of systems and products from a variety of vendors and technology disciplines and the use of standards in Secured City environments will be explored. Stuart Rawling, a member of ONVIFโ€™s Steering Committee and Director of Global Business Development for Pelco by Schneider Electric, will present the session, โ€œInteroperability: The Engine Running Safe Citiesโ€, on Wednesday, November 16th, at 5:40pm, in the San Jacinto 3 room.

Per Bjรถrkdahl, ONVIF Steering Committee Chair, said: โ€œThe success of secured city deployments hinges on the interoperability and common communication interfaces that ONVIF and other standards organizations provide. We are excited to sponsor Secured Cities and to discuss the nuts and bolts of interoperability and how standards are being used to bridge the gaps between manufacturers, devices and technologies.โ€

ONVIF will be represented by several member companies exhibiting at Secured Cities, accounting for about 30 percent of all exhibitors at the event, including: ASSA ABLOY, Axis Communications, Bosch Security Systems, Inc., Dallmeier electronic, FLIR Systems, Genetec, Hitachi, IndigoVision, Milestone, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Salient Systems, TELESTE and VideoInsight.
