Resilience practice leader

by Mark Rowe

A Warrington-based technical consulting and engineering services firm – MMI Engineering (MMI) – has appointed a new Resilience Practice Leader for the company’s organisational and asset resilience practices.

Caroline Field, pictured, brings with her over 20 years’ professional experience in the industry, including 15 years specializing in structural resilience to extreme events, 12 of which were based in the United States.

Most recently Caroline held the position of Associate Director at BuroHappold Engineering where she managed the Risk & Resilience team, holding a track record in implementing resilience strategies to protect against natural and man-made hazards and stresses such as climate change, urbanization and globalization. Chartered with the ICE, Caroline is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, and a member of several industry bodies including ASCE and the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES). She is deputy chair of the BSI’s city resilience standard publication and co-chair of the ASCE IRD SPEED committee focusing on community resilience.

Managing Director at MMI, John Evans, believes that Caroline’s innovative and comprehensive approach to resilience takes a balance of physical mitigations with adaptive capacity, whilst also considering shocks and stresses, incorporating future trends analysis, which will help the company’s clients to thrive in the face of change and disruption. He said: “We are delighted to welcome Caroline to the team. As the world continues to present us with increasingly complex threats, we are confident that with Caroline’s exceptional knowledge and experience in this niche field – combined with our existing core competencies – our clients will receive the highest quality and most comprehensive approach to resilience and risk management.”

And Caroline said: “I am very much looking forward to integrating my experience of resilience consulting services with MMI’s technical consultancy skills to assist our clients to manage their business and assets in the face of future change and challenges.”

And joining Caroline at MMI is a former colleague Richard Look, who will become Senior Consultant. Having over 16 years’ experience in the concepts and applications of resilience, most recently working at Burohappold.
