Ambulance access

by Mark Rowe

G4S Technology, a provider of building security products, has installed access control and CCTV at six more West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) NHS Foundation Trust sites across the region. The system is being installed at each of the 15 โ€˜Make Readyโ€™ Hubs around the region and Trust Headquarters. (Image at Willenhall courtesy of WMAS.)

WMAS covers a geographical area of about 5,000 square miles and serves a population of 5.3 million people living in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Coventry and Warwickshire, Staffordshire and the Birmingham and the Black Country conurbation.

The trust Security Manager, Steve Elliker, said: โ€œEnsuring our staff are safe whether on the road or at the ambulance stations is clearly a high priority for the Trust. Having a system in place that provides reassurance for the staff is important to us. The system that we are having installed complies with the guidelines laid out by NHS Protect and the Home Office. We particularly liked the 24 hour support package that G4S Technology provides should there ever be a problem. This ensures that our sites are safe and secure at all times.โ€

Stewart Angell, Managing Director, G4S Technology, added: โ€œFor over two years we have been working closely with WMAS to install state-of-the-art security systems as part of their โ€˜Make Readyโ€™ programme. The most recent site to be secured using the very latest in electronic security solutions is a โ€˜Hubโ€™ site in Shrewsbury.โ€
