Securi-Guard Monitoring’s Plymouth-based Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) is 20. Staff marked the landmark with an anniversary cake made by Chloe Bickford, the grandaughter of Kim Precious, Managing Director – Securi-Guard Monitoring. Pictured with cake left to right are Mary Campbell Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) Manager, Adrian Baker ARC Alarms Manager, Kim Precious and Frank Kerr, ARC Senior Supervisor and Trainer.

The ARC lies at the heart of the company’s range of fire and security monitoring services for clients in this country and across Europe. Securi-Guard’s operators monitor fire and intruder alarms, CCTV, as well as track vehicles and lone and vulnerable workers. The company’s monitoring division has launched a new website, www.securi-guardmonitoring.co.uk as a showcase of its services.

Kim Precious said that new web presence reflected the company’s status as a modern, forward thinking business dedicated to the highest standards of professionalism and customer service. She said: “The 20 year celebrations of the ARC provided the perfect opportunity to give our website a major overhaul to ensure it is fit for purpose as digital technology continues to develop at a rapid pace.

“Technological advances have also been very swift in our own industry. We have seen some remarkable developments in monitoring equipment and services during the lifetime of the ARC and I am certain there will be many more to come in the next 20 years – and beyond.”

National Security Inspectorate (NSI) Gold CAT ll accredited, the ARC – which is based at the company’s headquarters in Estover – has come a long way since it was first launched in January 1997. From an initial staff of six operators, the monitoring team has grown to more than 60 employees.

In the last two decades, the ARC has seen the award of a series of industry accreditations. The ARC is an NSI Gold Approved Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) Thatcham Approved CAT5/NSI Gold Systems Operating Centre (SOC) and NSI Gold British Standard 8484 Lone Worker Monitoring Centre.

The year 2011 saw the launch of Securi-Track, which works with approved security firms in 16 European countries to provide a European Police Response Service to vehicle thefts and hijacks abroad.

A year later, as part of the 15th anniversary of the ARC, a major refurbishment was carried out to house admin and monitoring staff in one building.
