Vertical Markets

British firms at Intersec Dubai

With the 18th edition of Intersec Dubai a little over a month away, the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) reports that members are gearing up for what promises to be one of the industry’s biggest trade shows to date.

The trade association, through its dedicated Export Council, continues to seek productive links between UK security companies and overseas buyers including, most critically, in the Middle East. Intersec is pivotal to this, with the BSIA – which is attending for the 18th year – having a number of members there across the three-day show (pictured is the 2015 show).

Underlining the importance of the Middle East region to member companies, the BSIA’s Export Council – a dedicated forum for BSIA member companies who are focused on extending their business to overseas markets – has again conducted its annual ‘State of the Nation’ survey which considers global export trends.

This year’s survey revealed that there continues to be a high demand for British security products and services, with 60pc of respondents citing an increase in overseas business during 2015, and a further 30pc stating that the level of business had remained the same. Further increases in overseas trade are expected for 2016, with a clear focus on the Middle East as an important market for the UK’s security sector. Almost half of all respondents identified the Middle East as the single most important target market and 80pc of respondents are looking to increase their level of business in this important region during 2016.

Daren Wood, Membership and Export Services Manager at the BSIA, says: “The UK enjoys a positive international reputation when it comes to the provision of security products and services, in part due to the innovation which has become synonymous with the UK’s security industry.

“Over half of the respondents to this year’s survey attended Intersec Dubai in 2015, which reflects the clear importance that this region has for UK security exporters and the pivotal role that Intersec plays in helping UK businesses to forge productive trade links with buyers in the Middle East” adds Daren.

Looking forward to this year’s show – which takes place between the 17th and 19th January – a number of BSIA member companies will be showcasing their products. BSIA members exhibiting include:

Remsdaq – Stand S2-F25
At this year’s show, Remsdaq will be launching the EntroPad reader range; a read/write smart card reader solution supporting iCLASS, Mifare, NFC and Felica technologies. The EntroPad range includes English and Arabic keypads and hands-free variants.

Alan Hardy, Remsdaq’s Security Sales Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa, says: “As a leading UK manufacturer of integrated access control systems, Intersec is a key event in the Remsdaq calendar. It enables us to showcase the latest additions to our highly acclaimed security solutions portfolio and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our valued and loyal customers. Having contributed to the security industry for more than 40 years, the Middle East remains to be of significant importance and an integral part of the future growth strategy of the business. Intersec has grown into one of the largest security events in recent years and we look forward to another great show this year.”

RGL Electronics Ltd – Stand S1-G20 (UK Pavilion)
RGL Electronics will be showcasing their new Disabled Toilet Alarm which has been developed for the large projects that are prevalent in the Middle East Region. They will also be exhibiting some new additions to their Access Control products.

Geoff Jones, Director of RGL Electronics, says: “RGL have been active in the Middle East for many years and we have built on our successes through participation in various large and prestigious projects throughout the region. Intersec has been an extremely important exhibition in promoting the RGL brand and the development of our customer base. By exhibiting at Intersec this year, we hope to have the opportunity of getting in front of the people that really matter; Architects, Specifiers and Integrators for example. Intersec will also be an opportunity for us to promote new products that have been developed and to build upon what is already a major marketplace for the RGL brand.”

GJD Manufacturing Ltd – Stand S4-F39 (IMCI stand)
A regular exhibitor at Intersec, GJD will be demonstrating the DygiZone lighting controller and lighting detectors. The DygiZone is a four-zone lighting controller available in silver or white housing. The Opal XL is an external PIR detector with an adjustable detection range of 10 to 35 metres. When used with GJD’s lighting controllers, 24 hour indication and movement activated lighting for a timed period is automatically provided.

Ana Maria Sagra-Smith, GJD’s International Sales and Marketing Director, says: “The Middle East is a key market for GJD, which is why we regularly exhibit at Intersec. We are really looking forward to exhibiting again this year and showcasing our cutting-edge security solutions to the Middle East market, as well as meeting with existing and prospective customers.”

Storm-AXS – Stand S1-H29 (UK Pavilion)
Storm will be revealing additions to their range of vandal resistant, outdoor rated, access control keypads at Intersec 2016.

The increasing use of glass and hard decorative finishes, in corporate and retail buildings, creates a challenge when installing access control systems. Keypads and contactless readers must be easily installed within the width of a door frame or mullion. They must also project and confirm quality and style. Storm have created an integrated keypad and contactless reader, exploiting use of light and form. When installed, the new S60 keypad/reader projects an atmospheric halo of light onto surrounding surfaces.

Peter Jarvis, Senior Executive VP, says: “Dubai is a location that features many of the world’s contemporary landmark buildings. Intersec 2016 provides a unique opportunity to establish and develop relationships with architects and building management companies. For a small British company promoting innovation in technology and quality by design, the UAE represents a market sector that values and demands premium quality.

Texecom Ltd – Stand S1-G34 (UK Pavilion)
Also exhibiting at Intersec is Texecom Ltd, showcasing their Premier Elite Series which provides a single system architecture and peripheral range that scales from the simplest and smallest security applications through to the largest and most complex.

Any Premier Elite control panel can connect wirelessly to a home network. The new Premier Elite ComWiFi module integrates with any Premier Elite control panel.

Clym Brown, Marketing Director at Texecom, says: “Texecom is obsessive about providing world-class protection for people and property everywhere. As an independent, UK-based designer and manufacturer of professional grade electronic security and emergency signalling systems, Texecom’s portfolio protects a wide range of applications. Exhibiting at Intersec showcases our solutions to the Middle East market and beyond.”

As a UKTI Approved Trade Organisation (ATO), the BSIA is responsible for facilitating the UK Pavilion at Intersec 2016 which brings together a number of UK companies to promote the ‘Great Britain’ brand. The BSIA will be based on stand S1-E46 throughout Intersec. Visit: www.bsia.co.uk.
