A car supermarket has saved money by using a product that helps the company keep track of the location of thousands of keys. Unbeatable Cars operates across two sites in Portsmouth and Crawley. It was finding its manual methods to be slow and inefficient. The size of Unbeatable Cars operations, with 160 staff and several hundred cars always in stock at each site, meant that keeping track of where keys were, and at what site, was difficult. Misplaced keys would sometimes result in loss of sales and customer service was compromised.
Traka’s automatic key management product offers “Random Return to Multiple Systems”. This means that vehicles can now be tracked and monitored when they are moving between different locations of the business.
The installation of the product at both sites has meant that sales and management know where each set of keys are at any time. The staff type the registration number into the software to see if the keys are in the Crawley or Portsmouth branch and what cabinet and what position they are in. If the keys are out of the system the software will identify who is using the key and what time they took it.
Mark Sopp, Sales Director for the car firm, has reported that the system was able to pay for itself within three months. This figure was based upon potential sales that could have previously been lost due to misplaced keys.
