BOSS, the British Oil Security Syndicate, has signed independent forecourt and convenience store operator Sewell Retail to its Payment Watch scheme.
All 12 of Sewell Retailโs sites become members of BOSS Payment Watch, the debt recovery scheme that puts in place a co-ordinated system for recovering financial losses due to โno means of paymentโ incidents.
Kevin Eastwood, executive director at BOSS, said: โWeโre very pleased to have the opportunity to extend the support offered by our Payment Watch scheme to Sewell Retailโs forecourt sites. BOSS Payment Watch not only helps to protect independent fuel retailersโ businesses financially, but is leading the way in identifying multiple offences and supporting the police in pursuing persistent offenders.โ
And David Craven-Jones, operations director at Sewell Retail, said: โAfter trialling BOSS Payment Watch at five sites weโve been impressed with the effectiveness of the scheme and have decided to adopt it at all 12 of our locations. BOSS Payment Watch has significantly cut our no means of payment losses โ in many cases the detailed documentation drivers have to sign is enough of a deterrent to encourage them to find a way to pay before they leave. If we do need to pursue a debt the reporting process is simple and the recovery rate is good. BOSS Payment Watch offers real benefits to independent fuel retailers and Iโd certainly recommend it.โ
