Mitie has won a new three-year contract to deliver security services for Associated British Ports (ABP), which has some 21 ports, from Barrow and Hull to Southampton and Plymouth. The contract has the option to extend for a further two years and will see Mitie provide services for all ABPโs 21 ports.
The contractor will deliver staffed guarding services, including site patrols and access control, for restricted areas across all of ABPโs sites. ABP sites handle some 88 million tonnes of cargo, around a quarter of UK seaborne trade, every year. Mitie will conduct passenger searches and screening, including body scanning services, for passenger operations in Southampton, Plymouth and other ports across the UK. Southampton is Europeโs number one cruise turn-around port; it’s preparing for ships to dock at its new Horizon Cruise Terminal as cruise services resume in the summer. Besides Horizon there are four other cruise terminals at Southampton.
