Retail loss survey

by Mark Rowe

Results of this year’s UK Retail Fraud Survey, the definitive LP study of the UK’s leading retailers, will be revealed on Thursday, April 23 at the Retail Fraud – London conference, at the Novotel Hammersmith. Sponsored by WIS International, an inventory and data collection services company, the UK Retail Fraud Survey 2015 is expected to report a rise in online credit card fraud from the 43pc reported in 2014.

Paul Bessant, MD of Retail Knowledge, publishers of the survey and conference organisers, says: “Always an important area of loss to retailers, it will come as no surprise if online credit card fraud has increased dramatically in light of recent high profile data breaches that have occurred this year. We can also expect to see some troubling information in terms of how much money is really going in to online loss prevention.”

The headline results and analysis will be given to delegates at the conference, with a briefing session for those retailers who took part in the survey. The in-depth briefing will show participating retailers how they can best use the survey data to fight loss and gain competitive advantage.

Steve Simmonds, Head of Sales at WIS International, the UK Retail Fraud Survey sponsor, says: “I know from my conversations with retailers that the value placed on the Retail Fraud Survey is very high. It truly provides a unique insight into what issues are emerging in the world of retail fraud and loss prevention and allows retailers to both benchmark their own performance as well as prioritise areas where others are already being challenged. Considering the recent series of data breaches companies have been experiencing over the last year, these figures are crucial in order to stay ahead of criminals and effectively manage fraud.”
