OCS at the Borough Parade shopping centre in Chippenham, were recognised by Councillor Sylvia Gibson, Chippenhamโs Mayor, for their work in keeping the centre clean, safe and secure. The ABCD awards went to Rob and Dan (security) and Billy and John (cleaning). In particular, the annual floral display is appreciated by shoppers.
The security staff have dealt with everything from the everyday tasks of assisting shoppers to antisocial behaviour and crime. Incidents include:
โขAn elderly lady whose mobility scooter had broken down
โขLost children
โขShoppers taken ill
โขShoplifting
โขSuspect packages
โขAggressive behaviour
โขDamage by vehicles.
The security contractor adds hat the log for Borough Parade shows a high arrest rate following incidents, which has a direct impact on the safety and security of both the centre and the surrounding area.
To illustrate the willingness of staff to go โabove and beyondโ, they assisted the police with crowd control following a traffic accident in nearby Market Place, clearing the bus station to allow a paramedic helicopter to land.
The awards to Rob and Dan cite their โsustained exemplary performance and contribution to safety and security at Borough Parade.โ The citations for Billy and John reference their โfull involvement, commitment, awareness and reliability.โ
