Store contract

by Mark Rowe

A national contract to provide security to the high street retail chain 99p Stores has been awarded to Kingdom after a supplier review process.

St Helens-based Kingdom reports that it started providing security to 99p Stores from December 1. They are providing permanent guarding to 36 stores and one distribution centre, with a particular focus on stores in London and the south, but will also be covering stores as far north as Leeds, and Salford and Harpurhey in Greater Manchester.

99p Stores is a family run business which was started in 2001 by entrepreneur Nadir Lalani. It is now the UK’s second largest single price point retailer with over 250 stores nationwide and some two million customers a week. The retail chain offers over 4,000 items from everyday grocery, snacks and drinks to homewares, essential DIY tools, stationery, kids toys, health, beauty and household products.

99p Stores is expanding, with more than 30 new stores opening a year – pictured is the 250th opening. Kingdom says that it will be working with the store chain as it rolls out their growth plans over the next 18 months.
