Trailer door seal

by Mark Rowe

Mothercare, the UK’s retailer of baby equipment, clothing and toys, has installed a pilot of a reusable seal on trailer doors. The product in use on its trailers is the new SecureSeal Logger. This wireless, self-powered device according to the makers provides an automated audit trail of security sealing to the retail chain. Data from the logger is collected automatically via the drive-by Receiver Hub, normally at a gatehouse, and an internet portal provides an audit trail for every trailer as well as exception reports for loss prevention .

Cameron Grant, Managing Director, SecureSeal Systems Ltd, said: “The SecureSeal Logger system is unique as it uses drive-by RF technology to automatically capture all trailer seal activity from every journey. Access to seamless security information and proactive exception reports will enhance the ability of Mothercare’s loss prevention team to reduce shrinkage across the supply chain.”

The product can collect information from the security seal or the door switch using the range of SecureSeal Systems sensors. SecureSeal describes its trailer seals are robust, permanent, and reusable with a unique random security number generator that indicates unauthorised door openings. Deployed as stand-alone units with optional connections to the logger for audit trails or connected to standard vehicle monitoring systems (VMS), they are in use on over 50,000 vehicles globally, including retail and supermarket fleets.

For a presentation of the SecureSeal Logger, visit stand FSDF11 at the Multimodal 2014 event at the NEC from 28 April to 1 May.
